(HELP) CAN ANYBODY HELP IN SETTING UP MAXIMUS PLEASE

Postby 21up » Mon Jan 04, 2010 9:12 am

Every time i d/load ma i set it up just foe mame, and when it runs it starts off
importing skin
scanning media mame
importing xml game list
then a square comes up and inside it says
director player error
index out of range
script error continue

yes or no
and i have clicked yes and it just freezes at 100% cpu it does this all the time.
i have to go into task manager to shut it down and am then left with no taskbar.
If i go back into the d/loaded maximus and click ma frontend it just starts up as before.
ie importing skin and goes through it all again.
So i have to delete ma and d/load it all again and start all over and the same happens.

Please this is driving me nuts especialy when you might not get a reply for days cheers Peter X( =((

Can you be more specific? What version of MA are you running. What version of MAME? What OS? etc?

Are you trying to run an intro video?

Hi mate
yes thats the latest one i have.
cheers Peter
I have d/loaded it 3 more times and every time it starts
it says importing skin
scanning media mame
importing xml files
then it says index out of range

script error continue
YES NO
if you press no it goes back to deskktop,if you press yes
it just stays there and when you look in task menu it is frozen at 100%.
so you have to close down and thats it.

Have you tried using another theme?
Is mame the only emulator you are running?

I am having the same type of errors. I am running Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and it is happening with both older and newer versions of Maximus Arcade. I am a registered user and never had any problems till I had to reinstall Windows (Bad hard drive). It is strange this bug is breaking both the older versions and the newest version. I am at my wits end. All my emulators work outside MA.

Here is my original post with more details. I can not figure out how to get maximus arcade working again. My comupter harddrive went out so I had to reinstall windows XP and since then I can not get the program to be stable. I just installed Windows XP Service Pack 3 and now in all versions of Maximus I am getting errors and even worse the loss of all my settings. It was always rock solid for me in the past and super relliable. I tried the newest version 2.10. It crashes frequently with script errors of director player errors and when I switch resolution I frequently loose all my settings. I had 2.92 and it worked great until my harddrive broke. All of my emulators work outside of maximus. I am frustrated and I love maximus arcade. I have spent hours, days trying to diagnose this problem. Please help me. What should I try? Thanks for any help.
I read that the algorithm for registration changed in the newer versions and I wonder of this could be the cause of my problems. I always had great success with the MA frontend and want to get it working again for my arcade setup. I am so lost. Thanks.

My .Net is up to date and Windowa update is finding no updat

Postby Brad-o » Thu Jan 14, 2010 7:14 pm

I checked with Windows XP update and updated my .net to the newest version. I have done all updates now including my motherboard and sound drivers. All my emulators and programs work outside of Maximus Arcade. I entered my registration on my first install of Maximus and then, because it was crashing, doing the director player error... and forgetting erasing all my settings... I tried the the 2.10 version. I have multiple versions of MA on my pc now. All versions are on different directories/ and in separate files. I have spent at least another six to eight hours trying to figure this out. Anyone have any ideas on things I could try? I read somewhere on the forms that registration info had changed. I wonder if this copy protection is what is causing all my problems. I am so frustrated... I paid for Maximus because it is an awesome program and now I can not even make it run. I want to cry. I ran it for a long time, as the hub for my arcade setup, before my hard drive crashed and I had to reinstall windows XP. Thanks in advance for all replies. I know the users on this for are sharp and can help me figure out what I did wrong. Thanks again. Brad

I can get to the preferences but I have no intro video selected. I tried setting up my emulators with no videos inside MA but I still get the crash. The program is either crashing with the director player/script error or forgetting all of my settings.

Did you install the DivX thingie from the MA website?
Have you tried to set it up for any other emu?

I think I'd redownload 2.10 Final build from the website and then reinstall windows again if I where you.
Then I'd try installing MA first and If it works I'd do all widnows updates in small groups, making sure to write down what's installed.
If it starts bugging again I'd know what update to stay away from...

Good luck.

Hi,

I'd just like to add that I'm getting the exact same script error when attempting to rescan my Mame roms folder.

I am using xp service pack 3 and latest version of maximus.

Like others, I have never had this problem in the past and it is VERY annoyng.

It is also worth noting that Maximus can scan the folders of all my other emulators just fine. It is only Mame where I get the script error.

Please help.

Ta,
Pete
