another emumovie problem!!!!!!

Postby higgo60 » Mon Mar 15, 2010 5:07 am

hi everyone,i have noticed by reading all the emumovie posts and most come back with the opinion being that you have download the correct codecs software, i.e xvid etc. i am using an arcade vga card from ultimarc for my pc graphics and im having trouble trying to run emumovies through ma when im scrolling through the games list in mame. the clips are sq not hq, through preferences i send it to the correct folder where they are and all i see is the snapshots and not the movieclips, also when i go to save settings am i saving them correctly as far am i aware, i am saving correctly by clicking on save in the bottom right hand corner of the screen??? correct me if im wrong please

thanks in advance

It's possible that you have it in a directory that's too deep for Maximus to see.

Try changing the "Path to Media" to "Long" (#11 in the diagram below).

hi thanks for coming back to us a giving me decent advice. what you were saying about it being deep. the folder the movies are in are only i.e: E:\mamegui\movies. thats quite simple i thought. but i thought maybe because i have a 500 gb partitioned hdd and all the roms, mame, movies were in the second half of hdd it maybe causing it not to work so i shipped evrything to the first half and went into ma and changed the paths for all of mame and guess what, mame works but still no movies. any more ideas would be appreciated, also i have vlc media player to test the movie samples just to make sure they all run good and they all run good. so i am baffled???

Not sure why it's not working. I also use emumovies. Do you have your delay set to something high? It's under the options tab - Miscellaneous in preferences (#13 in the link below)

Also, I use these codecs and they work: http://www.cccp-project.net/

And stating the obvious... the filenames for your videos must match the filenames for your roms. For example: dkong.zip (rom) vs. dkong.avi (movie)

hi again, with regards to the 2 things you mentioned.

1. after installing these codecs what do you do with them next

2. my mame rom files i have are just zip folders with just the title. not the way you said ie: dkong.zip also the movie folders are same ie: dkong.mov or .avi or .flv. if that is the case do you think i might have to change over all my roms to look like you said.???

thanks again

Once you install the codecs you don't have to do anything else. They are transparent and work natively in all Windows applications, including Maximus Arcade. You may want to reboot after the install though.

As for the roms. They shouldn't be uncompressed from zip format. MAME will read the zipped format or the folder unzipped format. But the usual practice is to leave them zipped.

As an experiment, I would obtain a test rom in the .zip format along with an emumovie movie in the .avi format. Put them in 2 new folders and then point Maximus Arcade to those 2 new folders (don't forget to rescan your media folders). If they work then that's the culprit - They need to be zipped.

hi again delusional 29, i got to the bottom of the problem. first of all i uninstalled ma completely, then seeing as i had the .flv version of the movie clips i thought i would try again but the .avi file version instead. so for anyone who reads this with the same problem try the .avi version first. so then i reinstalled ma went through the usual checks and low and behold it worked straight away.

so now im starting to get the favourites sorted out, thanks again and no doubt i will be in touch!!!!!
