First post - x-arcade duel exit issue

Postby awattwell » Thu Nov 05, 2009 9:31 pm

Well, I've read all the posts re: exit issues, and just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.

MA 2.10 (unregistered...wont buy until this is solved)
X Arcade duel - usb connection.
Keyboard - usb connection

What I have notices is that some people describe the factor as being time. ie. I can play for 15 minutes, then it wont exit.

I believe it isnt about time, but what buttons are pressed.

To test this I did the following.

#1: Played a game and made sure to hit every button multiple times on the player 1 control. I used Street Fighter 2 (Mame and SNES) - exit fail

#2: Played the same game, but used the player 2 controls. - exit worked

#3: Started SF2, but didnt press any buttons. I let it sit for 10 minutes. Exit worked.

#4: Plugged in joystick and assigned an exit key. Played using player 1, exit failed, but joystick exit worked. Once in MA, xarcade was not responsive.

#5: Ensured exit failed, minimized MA, opened notebook used xarcade to type sucessfully.

Now the only solution that works is the "press all the arrow buttons on the keyboard" then try the exit again - exit worked

Thnking it was some sort of button mashing issue I did the following.

#1: pressed only one button for the entire match. ie. only light punch. No movement. just one button. - exit worked for each button and when I only used the joystick.

#2: Tried pressing all the buttons (no joystick), but only one at a time. - exit worked.

#3: Tried mashing all the buttons (no joystick)- exit worked.

#4: Thought maybe that the issue was fixed as it kept exiting fine...played a game...exit failed.

I have made sure to turn off hotkeys in windows, as xarcade uses shift, control and alt, which all can cause issues.

I dont have a solution, and maybe this is all old news, but I thought maybe someone might see this and figure out a way to fix it.

Thanks.

It's a known bug. Many of us have the same problem. There is no known timeframe for when it will be fixed. A 2+ year thread about the problem was recently locked, which is not an encouraging sign.

Personally, I've switched my machine over to MaLa. It works perfectly with the X-Arcade and I have no problems with it. Not as pretty as Maximus, but no more Ctrl-Alt-Delete nonsense to worry about, either.

Good luck.

Last Post.

Installed Game Ex, configured, and man-alive it is so much better then MA.

If MA is Dean Koontz, then GE is Charles Dickens!

MA would make a lovely corpse!

Nice work Awattwell.
The only using 1 or 2 buttons and still be able to exit might explain why I didn't have any problems back in the days of the big thread.
I could thrash my Tankstick four hours but I mostly played 1943 and Gyruss.
I'm still running MA but I replaced the Tankstick I had with a self-built controlpanel using an I-Pac4.

To all who are having a problem with the tank stick..

I have been playing for 2 days with no problem.. here is what I did:

1 -In windows services I turned off Human Interface Device Access.
2- under control panel \ Accessibility Options\ Keyboard
un check Use sticky key
un check filter keys
un check toggle keys

\sticky Keys\settings
un check Use short cut
\filter keys\settings
un check Use short cut

3- In Maximus prefs Under controller
- set up tank stick manually (up, down, buttons, etc)
- under "Quit Executable" I took out ESC and put in player 2 button which is "2"
- under "Delays" I changed "Quit Executable" to 4

Now for the first time I can play any game, any system and quit with 1 key.

Note: You have to hold the player 2 button down until the MA screen comes back up. The screen will turn black but just keep holding down player 2.

Like I said, my son and I have been testing this out for hours over 2 days and not one problem.
