Not all games showing up in MA

Postby spacegoogie » Mon Dec 28, 2009 6:19 pm

My daughter went to go play super puzzle bobble in MA and it was not there. I rescanned Mame games, I downloaded the latest dat files and that game will not show up to save my life. So I thought maybe it was something in Mame, I open Mame and there it is. It plays just fine. So what do I have to do to get this game to show up on MA?
Maximus Arcade 2.10 Mame .135. Please Help.

Thanks!!!

It sounds like your romset is 'merged'. Meaning all the different versions, clones, bootlegs etc of the game are in the one folder. If this is the case then MA will only see the original parent rom.

retrogamer,
First let me say THANK YOU for responding.
2nd. How do I fix this? Please don't tell me to use CLRMAME LOL. I have never been able to get this to work right.
Is there anything other than using CLRMAME I can do to get all my games to show up in MA?

Thanks a lot for the help man.

Spacegoogie, I merged all of my roms for the heck of it about a year ago, and ran into all sorts of problems...many similar to yours. CLRMAMEPRO was the only thing that I could use to fix it...unmerging. :(

Yoeddy I'm tring CLRmame again right now. I dont know why but I just dont get this thing. It looks like i got it working to rebuild the rom sets into split sets so we will see how it turns out in a few hours.....any help on how to use this thing like a step by step would be sweet! :ympray:
I have read the so called clrmamepro tutorials on line but they never seem to work, the tutorial is that of an older Ver of clrmamepro.
Thanks again guys for all the help :-bd

ok now I'm X(
I was using CLRMAME and went to go check on it and it stopped at 78% with a windows error!!!
I started a new scan before I went to bed, woke up and it had completed. tried out my split roms in MA and the same damn games are missing.
This is a joke. Why doesn't MA just read roms like MAME does. I'm up for any kind of help guys.. :ympray:

Yes, i think its pretty silly that MA doesnt deal with merged roms....
How many games are there that you actually 'want' to play that are not showing up? If there are only a few you might be able to trick it just by renaming the containing rom folder to the name of the 'actual' rom you want to play?....I dunno really, but it might work perhaps? :-?

Dude! Thank you for that idea :D I went into my roms folder and just made a new zip, named it spuzbobl.zip copied the spuzbobl.CHD into it and it now shows up in MA. I have not tried it without the CHD inside, i might. All I know is it is working \:D/
My daughter is happy She gets to play her game..
This should be a fix in a new Ver. of MA. =))
It's nice we MA users help each other out. :-bd

Thank You!
