I use a combination of two button to exit. I have Esc and Button2+Player1 set up as exit in MA.
Have you tried this?

Hello everyone, 1st time poster here.

I too am a registered user using the X-Arcade and it just goes black when I press esc through the assigned buttons in preferences. This sucks, I got MA because I wanted to have a FE which controlled all my emulators now I am back to square one and $25 down. Please fix this bug...

I changed Mame's exit to some random combination instead of Esc. I then opened up MA and ran a Mame game and pressed Esc and still black screen. I was so positive that this was going to work... :(( Please help us Mameseer.

Mysteriozone, I don't believe your problem is related directly to everyone else's issues regarding the Tankstick and MA not receiving commands. You need to stop using the ESC key altogether when exiting your emulators when running MA. This is well known issue, and can be resolved by exiting the game using MA's "Quit Executable" shortcut key combinations.

Open your Maximus Arcade Preferences, click the Controller tab, then the Setup 1 tab within these settings. Here, you can select the "XArcade Tankstick" controller layout to control MA using your Tankstick. By default, this layout sets the "Quit Executable" command to keys 1+2+3 simultaneously. Save your settings, run MA, and launch any emulator. To exit the emulator, press the key combo 1+2+3 instead of ESC, and this will bring you directly back to MA, without black screens or anything.

Try it.

Hi guys....seems this is a fairly universal problem, I had similar issues with my rig but i use a keywiz USB interface for my control panel. I must admit i am completely unfamiliar with the tankstick controllers but i assume you can still configure the buttons you wish to use to escape the exe in MA? All my dramas ended when i configured multiple buttons ( I use my pause and reset game buttons ) to escape as trying to use a single button which always got me the dreaded black screen! I was just wondering if this will apply to the Tankstick as it seems to be the exact same issue I had.....?

Sorry guys I didn’t post sooner.
I too am using MA 2.10 with the Tankstick and have tried everything!!
From using USB/PS2, PS2/PS2, PS2/USB, and USB/USB. This makes no difference how the mouse or keyboard are hooked up.
Tried two buttons at a time with delays and without. No difference.
Tankstick just dies in a game when it wants. It’s funny because it seems to happen more when I have people over playing.
It makes me look lame!! L-) ("Sorry guys I have to restart the system") it’s driving me nuts!! ~x(
Please someone fix. I have paid my $25.00 (its well worth it) so I expect it to work correctly.
There are a lot more frontends out there and they are free, but not as good as MA.
Please get this problem fixed so I don't have to go hunt down a new frontend and stop suggesting
MA to friends. Thanks!!!!!!

Spoke too soon... It doesn't work all the time. It does work but at times it does get stuck at the black screen and I can't even Ctrl+Alt+Del it so I have to restart.

Well KeWLMoNk I have to agree with you. Where is everybody? It almost seems like they have just put their hands up and said oh well......its like everybody that works on MA has no time for MA. :-o

I have tried everything I could and it is still happening. I have gone ahead and just removed MA from my cabinet's autostart and placed back Mame32. It sucks as I wanted to have one program controlling all emulators but I don't want to look like an ass everytime friends come over and MA locks up and I have to reboot. I might just make a simple one in VB until MA gets this crap fixed, if they ever can... enjoy my $25.

Yeah, $25.00 x "Lot's of unhappy and unsupported Tankstick users" = Lotta coin in someone's pocket!

I just want to say that I think they do a hell of a good job. I have a Tankstick and I'm happy to say that don't have any problems with it.
I totaly understand that you guys are angry, no question about it. But why does this not effect ALL tankstick users? There must be something we've all over looked.

If yours is working, share your configuration and settings within MA, your operating system, which service pack you have applied, connection types (PS/2/USB), USB Host Controller vendors in your device manager (if USB connected), USB 2.0 ports or 1.1 ports (again if USB). Has mameseer checked with X-Arcade to see if there was a logic board change that may affect those of us that are having issues. Maybe you have a different revision of board in your Tankstick with different firmware, components, etc.

Just a thought to help the masses out.
