Flash 9 or 10 with as3 background?

Postby pconn5 » Fri Apr 02, 2010 9:23 pm

Hey I created a Flash animation that uses actionscript 3 but it won't run in maximus arcade? Does Maximus not support as3 and if not any chance of it ever supporting this? I found a similar animation with as2 that runs but it is very laggy as the background and only runs randomly for some reason? Any help?

Heres the .swf http://www.mediafire.com/?2tt5mwdumqm

I used a class I found that creates lightning. Its set to randomly have lightning strikes from each corner. I want this as my background in the theme because I am designing a lightning themed cabinet.

Thanks

If I recall correctly, I believe MA does not support Flash 9 or 10 (not sure on this). I do know for a fact though that it was built using an older version of Adobe Director.

The creator, Mameseer, tried upgrading to Adobe Director 11 (latest version) but it was incompatible with the 3rd party plugins of the frontend. So he was waiting for them to catch up to Adobe's latest version before upgrading the flash support.

As far as the background. I have a blue lightning theme that I created a while back. Although not included with the theme, I do have an animated background with blue lightning in .avi format. I could always try to convert it to an .flv file for you.

See a sample of the background here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lijmsXNV ... r_embedded

If its not any trouble that would be great! Even the .avi would be fine, It looks amazing. Did you make that with flash or something else?

Hey, I figured it out. If I put a clip that was constantly refreshing than it works. It has to be actionscript 2 still though so I had to change the affect a little. I think this turned out well for what I was looking for though. I made the lightning in After Effects and wrote some code to randomize the lightning. I posted the SWF here http://www.mediafire.com/?0ey0zjtt3zk . I think it looks decent and it works fine in MA. If anyone would like the FLA let me know.

Thanks for the help.

PS: This is Flash 10 from CS4 also. It just can't be as3 for some reason.

Hi Pconn5,

I rendered the blue lightning background in Aftereffects and I converted it over to both .flv and .swf formats. PM me your e-mail and I can send them to you (both under 2 megs).

Then feel free to host them so that everyone else can download it too if they want to.

Thanks!
